All I can tell you about this next procedure is that it will be excruciating.

pyro-changes.jpg

We're going to ship an update with another small set of Pyro changes this week. Like our previous update, our goal is to increase the degree to which skill can make a difference between two Pyro players. We received a bunch of useful feedback after the last update, and we think we've managed to address most of it, without removing the skill-based additions. As always, play with it for a bit, and then let us know what you think.

While we've been mucking about with game balance, Mister Royzo has unveiled his latest round of creations over on his Fancy vs Nasty Update page. Go take a look, and try not to melt his web server down.

Oh super, another "totally not a pyro nerf" pyro update

Meanwhile Heavy is the new Pyro

I don't know why they just come out and tell it like it is, "Eric makes us cry too much so we're taking it out on everyone else"

I don't know how they could possibly make the Pyro more useless than he already is right now.

afterburn buff, flame particles do even more damage at point blank than at a range (even more flamethrower falloff)

BOOM! fixed.

I'd actually like to see the Pyro put back to the way he was with the +20% Backburner buff.

But no, "moar skill is needed!" Nevermind that Heavy is now the new W+M1 class

More skill is welcomed, Airblasting and Flare Gunning are what makes a Pyro for me.

You guys are missing the point of what they are saying.

They are trying to find a way to balance the pyro without making him too OP when a skilled player gets behind it. So basically they are going to make him more effective at something next update, and try to keep the tweaks they have.

Pyro is obviously under powered right now, and that is what everyone is saying. They said they are listening to the feedback from the community. Do you hear anyone claiming pyro is OP still?

Longer afterburn for longer contact with a flamethrower would be swell.

After the pyro changes, I was rocking everyone with the new airblast for about a week. Lately however I've been massively sucking; it's like the airblast won't register at all, not even for putting teammates out.

I reckon the pyro oughta get a high powered, slow reload gun, that's quite accurate but drops off after a short distance. Like a musket or something. Something that he wouldn't be able to snipe with, though.

I still quite liked the changes, as pyro is my fave class, but still the after burn nerf was waaay too much. It just became a tool for getting guaranteed crits with the axestinguisher and flare gun.

I have also as of yet failed to find a use for the homewrecker.

Yeah, er, what the hell are you talking about? Are you saying the Heavy is now a W+M1 because he can move slightly faster than he used to?

Because that conclusion is... You know. Retarded.

On to the topic, I'm just happy that there will be a bigger distinction between good and bad Pyros.

I assumed he meant that the Pyro has been nerfed enough that all the stupid players choose the Heavy instead.

You mean, like a shotgun?

That might work, actually. I could see that working for the flare gun too, actually: Every hit adds X seconds of afterburn regardless of how long they've been burning so far. They'd have to re-nerf the initial afterburn first, though.
