As a thank you to those who have stuck with us through. I have decided to create a new usergroup for users with 500 posts or more.

My decision to choose post count over lenght of time registered is obvious I think. This does not mean we will tolerate spam in order to increase your post count. Doing so will get your post number cut in half.

With that said, Veteran TF2M members recieve the following perks.

Veterans

  • No size limit, file count limit or wait times for download.
  • Ability to create and edit your blog
  • 100 Private Message Inbox
  • A custom user title
  • Ability to upload profile picture (250x250x50kb) (no animated gifs)
  • Larger avatar (150x150x25kb)
  • Image in signature (500x100x50kb)
  • A shiney new veteran badge

Ofcourse, if you have some spare change burning a hole in your pocket, consider donating and help keep our servers online. These are the upgrades that come with donating to the site.

Donators

  • No Ads. Ever.
  • Admin on TF2Maps.net's Official Servers.
  • Ability to upload your maps to our servers. (Both EU and US)
  • No size limit, file count limit or wait times for download.
  • Create and edit your blog
  • 1000 Private Message Inbox
  • A custom user title
  • Full (Boolean) Text Search
  • Ability to upload profile picture (500x500x500kb) (animated gifs allowed)
  • Larger avatar (150x150x50kb)
  • Images in signature (500x100x100kb)
  • A shiny new donator badge

Or in TPG's case cut his post count into eighths.

19 more to go? :O

Edit: Scratch that, this one makes 18!
Yeah, you just did that to reach the 500 faster :p

But he is a true veteran. A spam veteran :p Even if you count it into eights he still will reach his ammount in a few days as he can just spam some more.

Pretty nice improvements overall.
But there is one thing that I would like you to ask about:

Wouldn't it be possible t allow external avatars (maybe only form Dropbox). The max dimensions are ok, but the size limit... meh... I can't make an avatar small enough, that the site doesn't screw up (just look at my avatar now, it's made of somewhat big pixels. The site traffic wouldn't be affected this way. Is this possible?

I've always assumed global limits on filesize (for any forum) had less to do about the forum's bandwidth and more about keeping users happy by preventing people from using 3 MB gifs as avatars.

I think that issue is down to you not compressing your file properly before uploading it to the site (which then destroys it because its compression is not as efficient as say photoshops ability to compress files and retain visual legibility).

Compress your picture down to 50k before uploading it to the site.

There are plenty of other members with decent res avatars below 50kb.

it is. space allocation is not an issue as hard disk space is cheap. but having the users download a 3mb avatar is annoying. and its something im not going to allow. i might bump up the size for the avatar a few kb though.

boo hoo, i've been here longer than you have and i don't have veteran either. doesn't matter, unless you're that much of an elitist (although a blog would be nice...)

I suppose it's better that more people have blogs so that we actually start posting stuff to them.

I agree, people who also posted a lot are quite likely to make good use of the blog feature (which still is kinda obscure right now).

The blogs are kind of useless as of now, because hardly anyone reads them (i think).

I mean, who checks for new blog posts regularly?

I think we need some promotion for that on the front page, like, display the last 5 blog updates or so, just like with forum threads.

btw, <3 my veteran banner :)

Well I don't know about that... ever since the plr/ctf contest and the influx of new active members that came with it, along with the infrequent discussions about the existence of the blogs, I'm getting quite a few comments on mine. I don't know about anyone else...
