Previous stages

OK, so I'm trying to do two things, and can't figure out how...
1.) I would like to be able to see the previous stage on a 3 stage map. For the life of me, I cant figure out how to do this!

Also, as a side, I want this to be moving up a mountain, in a spiral, with the last stage being indoors. I cant figure out how to make this look realistic...

As long as VVIS allows you to see into the previous stage, you can do it. Just put a fence/window and thats all you need to do. There's nothing entity based that hides it or anything.

Yep. As you probably know goldrush is connected, so as long as the player has a view to it, it should be plausible.

That said, I would try to craft a 3D skybox of the previous stage because having to render multiple stages without serious optimization, or a kickass machine would murder the performance.

As far as a spiral mountain goes, you could maybe try an enlarged version of Offblast -- switchbacks connecting appropriately sized gameplay areas for whatever you had in mind, with the final part being a spytech base hidden within the mountain itself. Doomsday device on the summit optional.
