Why make terrain with displacements when you can CARVE?

Did you know that Valve made 2fort out of one giant brush, and just carved it away...

Not enough obviously! But no seriously I did a search and saw it hasn't been posted for quite some time so I figured it'd be appropriate to start a new thread rather than bumping one months old.

Of course why I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread about this in the first place is anyone's guess.

that's a great idea? why settle for some small amount of brushes, when you can have somewhere around 2 million?

I don't think he even uses the grid.

Each time he carved, a new hole in the time-space continuum opened creating a black hole and devouring whole galaxies. That's right, carving destroys galaxies.
