Hi! :)

I'm completely new to mapping.

For a school project, I decided to choose to create a TF2 map from scratch.

Is there an appropriate forum section for me to do so? The closest thing was the WIP section which is now not used, and the Maps sections seems to have maps that are all well under way in terms of construction.

All I have right now is some ideas, a few rough sketches and I made a spawn room.

Thanks :D

If you're showcasing, then the map section is your place, but make sure what you've got is playable or close to playable. If you need help with anything specifically, head on down to Mapping questions and discussion.
Basically, don't really bother posting stuff like "take a look at these sketches!!1!" 'cause you'll just get responses telling you to MAKE it and post in-game pictures.

Yea, just read the mapping section sticky. The game mode should work, the spawns should support 16 player teams and not be fullbright (IE compiled with vrad on).

As for the rest of your map, it can be any form or shape pretty much. If you don't like the kind of responses TF2maps members give then you can always make your own private blog to document your progress. The map threads here are essentially for feedback more than documenting development.

P.S. I hope you have enough time to make this project, maps take many months of construction and play tests to complete.
