As for the statement that "Several Maps" had download problems, the only one that had a problem that i know of is Mines, (I did miss the last 4 maps though). And as DJive stated, it was a redirect problem on the fast download side of things.

Allow me to apologise early guys :( I am so very sorry that the server was crashing again tonight for the first hour. switching source tv off seemed to fix it :(

We spent hours yesterday rebuilding it and making sure it all worked - it did when we tested. There's no good reason why its happenning - its a quad core xeon with 4g ram on a 100meg datacenter connection.

nothing in the logs explains whats happenning. we run 4 other servers with no problems whatsoever - it seems a little odd that source tv was causing it = well investigate further. Anyway, i was pleased it only lasted an hour and that the rest seemd to go smoothly so far.

we are working very hard to resolve it, but can quite understand how annoying it is! Believe me, I feel close to tears of anger - remember that gif of the guy typing till his arms bleed off - now picture Arma and I trying to sort the server out tonight :(

@ Colt, I was busy today so I missed the gameday so I cant say for sure about todays event, but I know that during Saturdays event we had a problem on two different maps and crashing problems that were tied to the maps themselves and not necessarily to the server.

I was only there for the buggy (lots of restarts) beginning, but it looked like a really good way of testing out maps. I'm going to submit ctf_downpour_b1 for the next gameday.

No, ryodoan, this was something else, and not specific to any map. The server would crash after anything from 2 minutes to half an hour into a map. And after turning SourceTV off it was stable again (although I think we had a crash again on spywinder_gamedayx, which was a map that also crashed on Saturday).

So, great thanks to Colt Seavers and Arma for working hard to sort this out.

Unfortunately, it also meant that we didn't have SourceTV demos available for most of the time, but I did record some demos from my limited POV. I forgot to record on some maps, so I only ended up with demos for cruise, siege, stag, complex, call2arms, bootcamp, and bloodstained. Get them here.

after further investigation it appears sypwinder gamedayx crashes srver :p it crashed the teamplay one earlier - which is an entirely seperate box (its in the rotation at the mo).

thats a seperate issue from the server crashes in the first hour - they were caused by source tv - i've no idea why but it seems to be something to do with the auto record and the fact i had voice enabled. rest assured by the time the next gameday comes round we will have tested it out properly and will also run a second, back up server, which we will run on the same IP should the first fail :D

i'm also looking at a propper source tv proxy server in case that sorts it......its a real pity cos i know how much use the demo's are.

checkin my demo now DJ :thumbup1:

Edit: whoa you guys really suck as attacking as a team, never got past the second stage on bloodstained, we've been running that on the colts teamplay server for months now and 60%+ of the time the attackers can get to the final stage and win the game. Even with 3 senteries set up at that final point in round 2...

I think part of the problem with the second stage second point is there's no way to actually see into that area until you're in sentry range. Look at Dustbowl for an example. Every second point is clearly visible from most approaches, but with a lot of ways for defense to still cover incoming attackers and hide sentries away in relatively protected locations. The second point on bloodstained's first stage is like this, but for the second stage attackers are completely blind. It may or may not be harder than the corresponding point on Dustbowl, but it sure is a lot more frustrating.

I suspect the third stage might be similar, but I couldn't say since I've only to it once with a full server.

*edit: sorry, just noticed this is not the latest game days thread*

just watched the demo recording of my map from last week this is a great feature

I've been working another 20 to 30 hours I guess on beta 2 to improve gameplay and atmosphere. A couple of minutes ago I released it and would like to nominate it again.

There's generally a different thread for each gameday. The one for this weekend is here, but you're a half hour past the submission deadline for this one, sadly. =\
