Hey guys. I was going to post in the "introduce myself" section but this is my very first map, so I wouldn't have much to say. :p So I'm just going to get on to the question.

I loosely use the term "release," because I'm having a LAN party this week and wanted to make a silly TF2 map for my friends to play. This would be my first map ever. I made it over a period of three days, and it was a blast to make. It's not completely done, but it's playable. (For those wondering, it's arena.)

The problem is, I don't really know how to package it or release it so they can play on the map. What files do I need to get? Do I need to zip it or .rar it? Furthermore, how do they put the files on their system in order to play it?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm not sure yet if I want to release it to the public or not. But if a public avenue is available and it's easiest, I might take that option.

Once you've compiled your map, it should produce a BSP (Binary Space Partition) file in your maps folder. That's the file you want to distribute. If it's big, you can compress it into whatever format you choose. I recommend bz2, which can be used if you have 7zip.

Give the BSP file to your friends and have them put it in their maps directory. Keep in mind that if you compressed it you'll need to extract it from whatever archive you have it in.

If your map has custom content, there may be more to distributing it.
