I just have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the attitudes coming from custom mappers here toward custom mods. This whole issue with Valve breaking a number of custom mods has really brought to light the division between two custom groups within our community.
You don't like players running around with hats they didn't randomly see drop for them... I get it. You don't care for servers where they force players to wear a specific hat... I get it. Those are totally valid personal opinions.
What I find hypocritical is when I see a custom mapper claim "Pure vanilla all the way", yet want players to play their custom map. Out of all the forums on community sites regarding the current petition, it's sad to see that TF2Maps.net (a respectable community) had to close their short-lived thread.
Valve literally killed a number of gameplay modes (yes... more than just had mods) and discouraged many custom mod developers... current and future. Had Valve killed a vital entity used in a number of popular custom maps, I'm sure the custom mod community would have backed you up on a petition.
What happened to custom mod developers affects the entire community, including this custom mapping one.
