Contest entries have been submitted. A lot of concern about judging has caused a ruckus. Even so, one thing is clear, people are going to need to pug (6v6) these maps if they want to have a say in any kind of scoring system.
There are some changes to how my "Ravipugs" are going to work. They will happen mostly the same time as before, but I reserve the rights to start a lobby whenever I want.
I will pick maps in no particular order, but I will aim to play as many as possible. Though I can't guarantee that they will all be played an equal amount, I will indeed try all of them!
I hope to use the IRC channel again. Because the number of people who are in there is a great benchmark for how many interested players I can gather. If I judge that there's not enough people online I will simply cancel the event for the day.
Don't be surprised if I sometimes choose to not password the lobby.
Where:
The first place I will look for players will be the TF2M IRC channel.
Then sending out PM's to people who I know are interested in this kind of testing.
I'll try avoid linking in the steam chatroom, because I will assume everyone who is in there, that I can't reach otherwise. Aren't interested at all.
When-ish:
Central European Summer Time: 8:00 PM
UK (British Summer Time): 7:00 PM (GMT+1)
Eastern Daylight Time: 2:00 PM
Central Daylight Time: 1:00 PM (GMT-5)
Mountain Daylight Time: 12:00 PM
Pacific Daylight Time: 11:00 AM
How to get in on this:
* Join the IRC channel to show interest in pugging, I won't start one unless there is interest.
* Send me a friend request and I'll mark you up as a potential participant. (There should be a little friend request button in the top right of this post!) But really, use the IRC if you can, I don't like scrolling though a massive list and sending out tons of PMs for a lot of 'maybe' and 'busy' replies.
* You'll need a tf2lobby.com account, since that's what we're going to be using to organize this smoothly.
Lobby setup:
gametype: ctf = 20 minute game, most captures win.
class limits: standard +utilities = 2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 2 Pyros, 1 Demoman, 2 Heavies, 2 Engineers, 1 Medic, 2 Snipers, 2 Spies
Voice options: Gravetalk = Players will hear both dead and alive teammates.
Damage options: No crits, No damage spread.
----
As always, If you want a lobby of your own contact me and I will open on for you (unless the servers are in use already).
---
Oh holy shit, the what IRC?
If you use your browser to join the channel you will be given a Guest nickname, to change it simply type /nick [name] (without the brackets).
If you want to use a proper irc-client read this guide I made for you: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1281220/mirc/index.html
