Contest entries have been submitted. A lot of concern about judging has caused a ruckus. Even so, one thing is clear, people are going to need to pug (6v6) these maps if they want to have a say in any kind of scoring system.

There are some changes to how my "Ravipugs" are going to work. They will happen mostly the same time as before, but I reserve the rights to start a lobby whenever I want.
I will pick maps in no particular order, but I will aim to play as many as possible. Though I can't guarantee that they will all be played an equal amount, I will indeed try all of them!

I hope to use the IRC channel again. Because the number of people who are in there is a great benchmark for how many interested players I can gather. If I judge that there's not enough people online I will simply cancel the event for the day.
Don't be surprised if I sometimes choose to not password the lobby.

Where:
The first place I will look for players will be the TF2M IRC channel.
Then sending out PM's to people who I know are interested in this kind of testing.
I'll try avoid linking in the steam chatroom, because I will assume everyone who is in there, that I can't reach otherwise. Aren't interested at all.

When-ish:
Central European Summer Time: 8:00 PM
UK (British Summer Time): 7:00 PM (GMT+1)
Eastern Daylight Time: 2:00 PM
Central Daylight Time: 1:00 PM (GMT-5)
Mountain Daylight Time: 12:00 PM
Pacific Daylight Time: 11:00 AM

How to get in on this:
* Join the IRC channel to show interest in pugging, I won't start one unless there is interest.
* Send me a friend request and I'll mark you up as a potential participant. (There should be a little friend request button in the top right of this post!) But really, use the IRC if you can, I don't like scrolling though a massive list and sending out tons of PMs for a lot of 'maybe' and 'busy' replies.
* You'll need a tf2lobby.com account, since that's what we're going to be using to organize this smoothly.

Lobby setup:
gametype: ctf = 20 minute game, most captures win.
class limits: standard +utilities = 2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 2 Pyros, 1 Demoman, 2 Heavies, 2 Engineers, 1 Medic, 2 Snipers, 2 Spies
Voice options: Gravetalk = Players will hear both dead and alive teammates.
Damage options: No crits, No damage spread.

----

As always, If you want a lobby of your own contact me and I will open on for you (unless the servers are in use already).

---

Oh holy shit, the what IRC?
If you use your browser to join the channel you will be given a Guest nickname, to change it simply type /nick [name] (without the brackets).
If you want to use a proper irc-client read this guide I made for you: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1281220/mirc/index.html

I love this idea, and would strongly like to use it, but does it have to be at 1pm CST? That's the earliest time I could ever hope to make it home by, and it sounds like you want us to be there well before then.

This will happen on EU times for the simple reason: it's my timezone. And I'm doing it alone, so far. (it hasn't even started yet...)

This is just an idea from me, not a service from tf2m. DrPepper gave me the 'go' to try it out. I hope it will become successful enough, so that the admins take up an interest to help me out with it when I'm asleep! :)

Ffffff okay, I'd be interested but a Steam group Announcement/Event would be nice as being in the IRC all the time seems kind of a hassle.

Showing some more US interest, so hopefully we can get someone to help have these for both sides of the Atlantic.

I'm just asking people to pop in to grab the lobby link, they can come earlier if they want to discuss what maps to play.
The browser IRC channel is just about perfect for this. The reason I want to avoid using steam events is because tf2m is a mapper group first and foremost. Sending out a notice to ~500 online members to find 11 others to play a pug seems to me like it would annoy people a lot more...

It's just a lot easier for me to use the IRC right now, mainly because I can set the channel topic to relay important news like "Ravipug: not happenin today!", instead of people going around asking everyone else what the deal is (especially if I'm not around to answer).
Until it gets a organized schedule, I will be using IRC as the first place to look for players.

I see, true enough!

Will there be a first test run tomorrow?

I hope to run the first test on Monday. Tomorrow (sunday) has the standard gameday scheduled :)

Just a reminder, this is happening in ~5.5 hours from now. Get your tf2lobby.com accounts up and running, tweak your microphone, join the IRC or send me a steam friend request (this is all explained in the first post).

As long as there's people, we'll keep playing. Looking forward to see ya all ingame.

I must say I found this very useful. I hope next time it will be a little easier to gather more people, but I think, this being the first time and on a monday evening at 8pm, is going to change.

Props to ravidge for arranging this!

Yeah, it was great fun. You get a lot more feeling of how the map is playing when playing this way. I hope I'll be joining these events a lot.

And yeah, well done Ravidge

Nice, it actually happened! It went pretty well for a first try. I messed up by disconnecting the server in mapchange though. Lesson learned. Thanks for sticking with it guys!

The games were very good imo, Not too serious but still competitive. Both authors walked away with good feedback and a STV demo to look at.

Keep checking back in the IRC guys, I will arrange these games as often as I can. Same time, new maps.

Todays test also happened without any major issues. Some people were having their own connection problems though... luckily we could get some subs :)

I just wish that steam PM's had tabs, goddamn... I had 18 of them open at once today and as soon as someone said anything I had to flip through them all to find the message.
If people could just hang out in some kind of chat, that would be wonderful.

Thanks to all who attended, tell your friends... because you can never have enough people!
