A question about rain.

Hello,

I am attempting to add rain into my map (I'm hoping for the same atmosphere as Sawmill, using the same theme and skybox and whatnot) And, using Func_Precipitation, i have done just that.

However, the rain produced from this brush-based entity is very faint, even at 100 percent density, and i was hoping that somebody here might have a way to increase it's visibility possibly?

Thank you ~Jakkarra.

(P.S, is there a level of rain to avoid in my map, to prevent crashing?)

if you want to keep using the brush entity, you can double it up (more than one brush in the same space) but your probably better using particles (that's how sawmill rain is done).

I can't remember the name of the particle system, but I think it is listed on the VDC somewhere, but beware when using it! it doesn't have collision so you must place it very carefully as to not let it clip into buildings. Psy made some collision rain particles you can use though, but they can cause a bit of lag when used in excess.

The rain that is in sawmill is actually a particle effect. Search for Psy's collision rain to implement it into your map.
As for the func_precipitation, one trick is to get 2 or 3 of them and put them inside each other so they overlap. That'll make the rain thicker. Also consider adding some white fog to the map.

EDIT: OH RAWR NINJAS

To make it rain more, just copy your func_precipitation, placing it at the exact same spot as the other one, if that makes any sense. Do this as much as you want.

EDIT: Fricking double ninja'd
