Hmm, just pondering... in Episode 2 Valve had a TV screen showing ...Judith? off in the snow somewhere, but it was actually just in another part of the map. I was wondering if thats possible in TF2 and if its worth doing? I have a few TV screens at one of my cap points, I thought it might be nice to have them showing real things (that aren't inside of the game area) rather than being that map texture that everyone uses all the time.

Is it possible? :)

Heres the scene I was talking about,

They're broken in TF2, there is no way to do anything like it.
If you want a static image you can make a new texture from a screencap. Otherwise, give up now.

HL2 used the videoscreens to talk about the plot, for the most part. TF2 doesnt need this because the scenery kind of shows the conflict.
Examples:
badwater: control over a train-track
all ctf and payload are pretty much easy to guess

Does anyone think they could install the entities into TF2? They'd be good for security rooms.

You'd need Valve to do it I'd imagine. Someone should ask, does anyone know the name of the entities that need fixing? I might shoot an email off to Robin (not that hes ever replied to any of my emails). Assuming that it wouldn't cause performance issues once its in the map..? Does it get used in CS?

well the filmed area would get rendered of course... so yeah, kind of a big deal if you put like 4 security cams filming gameplay areas...

I'm kinda grateful they don't work in tf2. they are not for multiplayer imo

I'm almost sure that it's possible in css.

Hereby i'm questioning why there is actually no mini map that shows where you and your teammates are on the map...

you could use a sky_camera and little pieces of sky texture to render parts of stuff....

like this:

http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=1688&highlight=camera

You could place the camera in just the right spot to project onto a tv with sky texture for the screen.

Of course, this ruins all your REAL sky.... and means you cant have a traditional 3d skybox...
