Please don't hurt me.

After the over scaled mess that snowsquall was, I decided to make a different map for the hell of it. I intended to put this map in the contest section but I decided that I should probably stop cluttering the contest subforum with shitty maps and put them in the general section instead. So enjoy the Novint props/posters while they last!

The map is a pretty small map which will hopefully fit for 6v6 to 12 v 12 matches without becoming a total clusterfuck. The game mode is 2 flag invade. Each team has the intel and must place it in the enemy capture zone.

The theme is what I hope to be a dead-er version of the yukon theme. I put some falling ashes in for the hell of it. I hope I packed it right. The skybox texture is temporary until Void finishes my request. Hopefully this map will work out.

the theme looks great, but as absurditof said it's quite bland and interesting lighting would help. Just by looking at that central area, i would advise trying out l4d-esque lighting (sparse, low-angle) because it looks very (as you said in the description) dead

Oh you got so nice mood here. I like it alot! Could you add raining ash? (I'm not sure if it's possible) I think the scale is fine, but you could add some gameplay element to make this map stand out of the crowd. Because now it looks just so... well too normal.

Overall looking very promising!

The map actually has falling ash. But It's a bit hard to see while moving. I'll try to make it more noticable later on.

Also, the map itself isn't ordinary ctf. It's 2 flag invade. :)

Aside from it being yet another CTF map with a bridge, the theme sounds very nice.

Yeah, now that I think about it, what point is there in a bridge there? The bridge offers no reasonings behind it as why it is there. It's not even really crossing anything major!

Now that I look at it. I kind of agree with you. I do have other ideas for the place though. Would a ruined building fit? I could change mid to fit that idea.

Other than the sentries of rape in the middle, I recommend adding something that prevents demomen from completely skipping over the whole middle. I managed to take out about ten sentries within two minutes making that leap every time I spawned. Also, somehow indicate that the intelligence is not the capture zone and use the Capture Zone skin (skins 10 and 11) of the gameplay sign, instead of Control Point.

I had no idea those skins existed. Thanks for pointing that out! I'm not sure about the demoman thing. Maybe I could make the balcony a bit more narrow and the spawn times longer to prevent the whole thing?

How about adding a couple of barrels to the middle of the balcony, near the edge. It might make the jump more difficult while adding a little extra cover (I hate the sniper barricades you have up so far.)

The sniper barricades actually block some major sightlines. But I'll give the barrels a try. Who knows?

Updated to a3!

a3-
- Remade layout. Turned out close to what it was before. Woo.
- Made 2 flag invade more interesting. Added furnace that opens when you go near it with the flag. Euthanize the companion intel to receive cake.
- Hopefully made the intel area less grindy.
- Probably made mid a bit too grindy.

But I guess you probably know that.

I do. It's the only texture that fit the inside of the furnace. But I'll probably make some custom textures later on.

Gameday bump.

Sorry about the framerate issues, they should be fixed in the next version. (I cut out like 80% of the particles)
