Hey guys, I'm new to this forum btw :)

anyways, I decided I would tackle a tf2 map, never done one before. I'm aiming for a single stage payload map with a theme similar to CP_EGYPT.

Here are some screenshots of what I have so far:

keep in mind this is only like an hour of work, so that's why it's only one room haha.

I would love some advice for making tf2 maps, I really want this to be a professional looking and playing map.

I'm also not sure If I have the brains to create a well balanced layout for a payload map, so if anyone has any ideas feel free to post some designs.

Thanks guys :)

This is the result of only 1-hour of work?

I think I might as well give up and go back to -playing- TF2.

The Ten Commandments of TF2 Mapping

Start here. It outlines the basics of making a decent map. Pay special attention to the sniper "unavoidable open spaces" lines. A lesson I learned the hard way myself recently.

But you have a great start. If you can design layouts as well as you detail (that was only an hour? O_O) you should have a good map coming along. (although I typically detail much better than design layouts lol).

If you need help, check the Mapping Tutorials and Resources section, there's great tutorials and stuff there, if you can't find what your looking for, (search first) and then post a thread here and hopefully get your problem solved.

Best of luck to you!

thanks for the positive responses guys :) I've done quite a bit of source mapping before, just not tf2. I'll be sure to check out those tutorials
