If you would like to be considered to become a judge please send a PM to me (YM) with a statement about what you feel qualifies you before the end of April. Once the site staff have decided on whether or not to accept your application you'll be contacted and will gain access to a new judges-only forum when signed in.

yeah...

and honestly...in this case with 80-odd entries, id say that anyone able to play all the maps sufficiently enough to know them by name is qualified to judge <_<

The fact that you request this with no explanation, expecting people to know you're qualified, just reeks of arrogance. I hope this is a joke. :/

EDIT: I'd forgotten you could apply as a judge, but I'm still annoyed at your "make me judge because I say so" attitude. You already have the privilege of having FTP access (why is that? just curious), but that doesn't mean you can ask for more and just get it.

i wouldnt put ftp and privelege in the same sentence. If you want to upload a bazillion maps a day and schedule 6v6 testing for anyone who requests by all means feel free to step up to the plate.

Also if you want to challenge the fact nobody has playtested the contest entries more than I have you can also feel free to do so

People know I'm qualified. this is no joke ;)

1. We had judging application procedure already laid out, this thread serves no purpose other than to show you don't know how to read instructions.

2. Current experience playing the maps doesn't necessarily mean anything, since they are to be judged on the submitted version, and things could change between here and then.

I do challenge that, for the simple reason that I always challenge statements like that. There is some contest map that has been played by someone else more then you, I guarantee it. In fact its also quite likely that someone has played the maps in general more then you. If the stats database wasn't down id go check that <_<

And once again, go use the proper channels to apply <_<

Avast, ye aspies!

If you're looking to piss up a pole to make Niagara flow in reverse, you'd be damn mistaken to try. If, however, you're looking for someone who is actually playing the contest entries in whole and is constantly looking for new material to test, well, then I say you shouldn't look any further for a judge than Flame.

I mean, you can keep playing favorites to choose worse maps, well, then by all means, be my guest. Just think the guy's overly qualified to pass judgement.

Whether you play a lot of maps or not, I don't think anyone but experienced mappers should be part of the judges. Then again, I guess it's up to the mods.

What Selentic said basically.
Flame does give good feedback on competitive maps, I personally recommend him to be a judge.

privilege? no. far from it. he offered to help me and the other staff upload maps for users that ask.

why just experienced mappers? are mappers the only people who can see wheter a map is fun or not? i would trust a casual gamer's opinion on how much fun a map is, than an experienced mapper.

my point. casual gamers do not find arena very fun. yet the most experienced mappers with hammer found it fun enough to include it as official content.
