Vertex tool isn't working

Hello, I am quite new to hammer and making maps in FPS games in general, I was just wondering how to get my vertex tool functioning again, I am using source SDK and all dots are showing but they do nothing when i drag them.

Please help and sorry for my bad English.

hit enter. you've made a selection box most likely somewhere you're not looking at and it will stop you from doing anything else.

Would you look at that, there is a box there but when I hit enter nothing happens with the box.

Edit: I hold left click on the box and hit enter and it worked, thank you.
