Seems like more then a couple people are doing modeling and even more are asking a few questions on it.

Would a Model forum be used/worth it?

I think there is space enough if somebody wants to talk about models etc... :)

We have a WIP section and a models section in the download bit, that seems sufficient to me, I wouldnt use a model section myself but I'd leave feedback to other peoples models of course.

I think if there are enough modeling questions that they become an issue in the mapping discussion section, then we should start a modeling section. Otherwise, I think they can coexist well enough.

i think there would be mostly people who want to start modeling and who have no idea how to in addition to the more experienced people there
i think that that we need more some tutorials for modeling and less of a whole section

I guess it depends on how people actually use the forums.

Personally I use the recent threads link to browse new threads, use google site:tf2maps.net to search the site and post all my questions in the general mapping forum. That means I'm not really that aware of what other sub-forums there actually are anyway.

Having said that, normally I quite like having seperate sub-forums for specific topics, eg.:

Mapping questions -------General mapping questions
|
----Custom Textures
|
----Modeling
|
----Optimisation

etc...

this helps people who like to browse forums by topic.

modeling..

Modeling and Texture/shading creation do go hand in hand..

a Discussion forum for these would clear up the mishmash of varied subjects in one forum or another.. and would give more order to being able to know the people reading your post are the ones that could potentially be helped by your post or in turn help you.

I always like more specific areas to make posts so its not lost in a sea of stuff that may or may not have anything to do with what your posting about

Definetly, As it logically goes, the more maps people make, the more tired they will get of simply stock models! I vote Yes!

Yes, we need a modeling forum.

As I was trying to compile the models I'm using for my map, I got really frustrated with the lack of info on the subject. Much of it is about XSI, not really about the compiling process in general.

I used GUIStudioMdl, and as I looked at the many checkboxes for compile commands, I wondered what they all did. I would like to know how to get the full potential out of the tools I have.

So you see, a modeling forum would be a place for noobies like me to ask modeling questions in a tidy manner. It would also be a place like the map tutorial forum, where tutorials could be added and expanded upon.
