Give the new stage a whirl, and if it's better than the old one, hey, it's all for the best.

Or you could just add them both in :D

I've been detailing away at the contest version of Stage 3 for a few days now, mostly working away at the interiors more than anything. Now I'm trying to come up with some justification and backstory for the main chunk of the stage.

Here's a refresher. (It's an old, old screenshot.)

There's the building up the top which I was thinking of making a thinly-veiled Spytech building owned by a neutral entity and each team is trying to destroy something of importance belonging to this company that lays at the bottom of the valley. I'm not sure what it should be but it has to be something quite large and recognisable. I might even cut down on the valley itself and place a large structure which the carts eventually drop into and blow up.

Anyone have any ideas for the final drop or the area in general?

You got Raising the Bar?

Make the finale something like the Air Exchange, then you could have these dense cloud particles pumping out of it, explaining the cloudy sky, creating a reason for the apparent "nightfall."

Having thought about it in the past, I think the stage would be better if the hut over the rolldown area had no roof and was just a walkway again.

As for the ending, there are 2 ways about it, the industrial and the spytech. Nuclear reactor would work, but only if there was a cooling stack just below the end of the tracks, and it is the final destination of the bombs. As for industrial, an idea I just had is a big factory with a train depot. It may seem low key, but it could have trains whizzing in and out in the valley below, and a big curved glass roof which the bombs could smash through.

Oh hoho. That's a great idea. Thought I don't have the book I loved the look of the air exchange from the HL2 leaked beta.

For those not in the know this is what it looks like.

I shall make this change. Not sure why I didn't already. :p

Today was the first time I got to play this map. Very impressed with the visuals in level 1 & 2. I got the feeling while playing there were too many health pickups. Seemed like everytime I needed one (or didn't), one was in easy reach.

Didn't get to play map 3 long enough to offer any solid feedback.

You'll see something soon. How soon? I do not know but I can tell you that the wait is killing me.

:) Having a "celebrity judge" might have gone further than one would have hoped.
