Welp, I recently emailed Kevin, the developer of VBCT and asked him a few questions regarding the tool. He responded very quickly and I just thought I'd let everyone know about it's current and future status.

Email by me:
Title: Hey Kevin, A few Questions about VBCT and it's current status

I was wondering if you were planning on making any updates to it soon. It's been about a year since it looks like it has been touched and I'm sure you've learned quite a bit of information since then to utilize and finalize the program.

Are there going to be any major updates that you have planned for it in your next release, or user requests that you find would fit in to make the program better?

It would be awesome to get a reply from you so I can update everyone at TF2maps.net as quite a few of us use your program because of the much more advanced compiling modes and options we can get from your program.

Thanks again in advance for your response and hope to hear from you soon!

~Jake

His Response:
Hello Jake!
Thank you for the email, very much appreciated.

I'm in the process of getting things re-set up after moving down to Southern California for work. Unfortunately my main development system didn't survive the move (but the data is all backed up). I'm still sorting things out and putting together a replacement system.

As soon as I'm able to, I'll finish the updates I started before the move as well as adding in a few additional things that have been requested.

The major thing that is in the works is to implement support for L4D and L4D2 as well as to improve the way that VBCT maps to the available SDK games - Valve has changed things enough that I need to work on this a bit (improved Vista and Win7 support is part of that package too).

I also have a pre-compile option done that several people asked for, I need to slightly clean that up then I can release that as well. This just allows custom compile tools or batch files to run before starting the compile process.

One of the other requested options is to provide a launch panel with options for when the game launches after a compile is done.

I very much appreciate the community using my little tool and apologize for the delay in providing updates.

Cheers!

So there you have it, if anyone was wondering if this program was actually going to get updated.. There is your answer! I can't wait till his next release as I'm sure it'll run much better and will hopefully be optimized for the newer hardware that has came out. If anyone here has any suggestions I'd be happy to compile<--(hehe) a list and let him know what some of the big features people around here would like to see as well.

I have heard of people on the L4D2 forums who have modded this program to work in the l4d/2 engine version.

Great.

The only thing i want is an option to include your own commands, so i can let it run man :)

o0o0o, good suggestion, I'll definitely shoot that over to him and I'm sure that will be easy for him to implement. MAN is another amazing program. :O

Tell him to add a drop down for recent maps, I hate having to dig through all my folders to find my maps.
