After much work, I've come to what I believe to be a release worthy stage in my new Modular Construction Kit Project. The first theme I've tackled is: Barns, for farms and farm-like places.

Find yourself having trouble in erecting realistic structures? Look no further, traveler! This here is the MCK: Modular Construction Kit, fresh fom Kiwi Studios. Put together different pieces to create your buildings, quickly and easily!*

Different roof types and several kinds of walls are included in this package, as are RED and BLU versions of each. There is much room for improvement (obviously :crying:), and I am open to suggestions. What Styles and Themes would you like to see? What am I doing well? What am I doing wrong? What could be added to improve/expand the Barn set? Please let me know what you think, I want to make something that'll be helpful to the community (since I'm no good at making full maps :crying:). Please post with your comments!

Included in the RAR: "MCKit- Barns" folder (goes in sourcesdk/bin/orangebox/bin/prefabs) and a vmf containing the original prefabs and two examples of what can be done with these pieces.

Thats some crafty work there.

I always find myself stumbling to find the correct wood textures for blue.

Glad you guys like it! What should I do to improve upon it?

I think next I'll go for a concrete spytech base theme.

I am now going to make my map into a barn. Because of this.
How can you improve? Make a spytech one! I LOVE YOU!

All the edge faces where they would be touching other segments should be nodraw'd as they won't get culled if they are all separate func_detail, resulting in lots of extra faces/lightmaps.

Thanks for the tips ABS, TPG. I'll be sure to func_detail and nodraw future prefabs, and once i get done with the spytech theme I've started, I'll go back and update these ;)

I was just thinking, maybe a possible way to improve this would be to put in some common barn props for the picking.
