Ultimate melee weapon?

So, we know that chainsaws are usually shown as the "ultimate" melee weapon, but after playing Bioshock for 5 hours straight, it occurred to me that the chainsaw has officially been replaced. I mean, which is better, a chainsaw, or this? (not the fist, look at the OTHER hand)

So, what do you think the best melee weapon is? In terms of (from least to most importance) hilarity, how much damage it could actually dish out, and just how epic/awesome the weapon is. Because lets face it, that is one mean mother of all drills.

By the way, that picture I gave actually really sucked, but i couldnt see another (on the first page, im short of time) that showed perspective in terms of size very well. Just take a look at the other images.

EDIT: link to better image.

Realistically the best melee weapon is either a katana (due to being lightweight, easy to wield and manage, and having a very sharp blade), a "bigger" knife (like a ninjato), or simply a sturdy but light stick.

Heavier weapons tend to be more powerful, but also way more uncontrollable. Lighter weapons tend to be too frail.

Katana generally wins due to range, sturdyness, being relatively lightweight, and having the cutting edge which generally returns more damage for less physical "investment".

As for "surreal" images... Possibly the Chainsaw nunchuks featured in Dr. McNinja

I have to say, these may not be the most "epic" melee weapons in appearence. But i can't imagine a single kid from the developed world who didn't want either a lightsaber or wolverine's blades.

There's nothing more ultimate than Captain Falcon's bare fists.

Really.

That counts as a melee weapon, right? Very similar to the drill in a way, but would be freakin awesome if mounted in place of a minigun and used against zombies.

That would be interesting, although people would wonder what the huck that is. After all, massive drills and chainsaws are both instantly recognisable.

In "From Dusk Till Dawn" they used some kind of pneumatic drill against Vampires. It was the most pathetic melee weapon I have ever seen. It had no real purpose. Just pumping back and forth, and I don't think they actually killed someone with it.

Same logic applies to drills. Therefore, your busted is busted. As long as it's strapped to something that is heavier than it, it will deal damage.

Or in this case, is just humiliating

Normal drills maybe, but have you seen the one from bioshock? That would be guaranteed to leave lots of gashes and holes. It's made up of a bunch of moving sharp bits, not to mention the point would be pretty effective for goring people.

Just look at the trailer for bioshock 1 where one guy gets gored through the center by a drill. It's brutal.

Now, you can have your gun fights, and still be able to have a good ol' fashion knife fight.
