Do you know how many polys on a single area would support TF2? I mean for playing it smooth. I've got lots of vegetation models here, the total ammout of polygons are 8484(triangles). Would it be ok?

I know Alyx has got around 8000 triangles too... but I don't know if online games supports that ammount of high polys too.

Sorry to highjack this thread but about the waterfall, is that a new entity that comes with the ep2 version of hammer?

No, it's a volumetric model I made with a waterfall texture which I give total credit to Shiroko, a CSS mapper (I think). He has uploaded the textures of his maps for everyone who wants to use them.

BTW thanks Shmitz, I think It will support at least the double ammount of polys I've got there. The spawn locker has got +3000 polys... lol

The spawn locker has got +3000 polys
It also has multiple LODs, which you should definitely include in your models. That will save you a good deal of polys for those far off views

Hey Spike I really like those vegetation models you have, and I'm thinking of making an outdoor map set on a mediteranean/tropical coast. Did you make those models?

Yes, I did them, you can see them ingame on my WIP thread called cp_pirate_island

What program did you use? I tried making a model in max and exporting etc. I read tutorials but the compiler never worked. I don't have XSI though but I hear it's easier.

I used XSI Mod tool, it's easier. I watched the official tutorials on the official website.
