so you haven't seen me around because I don't map for TF2 but I'm here for a split second to say that I am shocked at what I just saw, a second TF2 map site. Remember that L4D mapping site (l4dmaps.com)? Well the same folks that did that made another one for TF2 and while it can't last that long, I am completely pissed off right now, go look for yourself! It's sad and it makes me so...(I'm swearing repeatedly right now)...how can ANY GOD DAMN PERSON MAKE A WEBSITE LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sorry if posting those links was a bad thing so if you guys don't want them here feel free to edit them out

I don't see the big deal here. They have every right to start their own site up. I doubt it will go anywhere, as the only reason their L4D site was popular was that they got it out at release. TF2maps.net is the well known established TF2 mapping community.

But if in theory they do go somewhere, well, a little competition never hurt anyone. ;)

Yeah I've known about this for a while.

The thing that bugs me is that not all of those authours uploading those works, I bet.

Uploading to that site without permission isn't allowed, so if a map is uploaded there by someone the author can contact them to have it removed.

We should probably keep an eye on the uploads.

Looks more like a map database, where as we're more of a learning resource. I mean sure, we host maps, but we also have gamedays, feedback forums, tutorial and resource forums etc.

Can't really see what they have, their forums are private.

1. l4dmaps.com isn't "that l4d mapping site", it's "that OTHER l4d mapping site" (l4dmaps.net = awesome :))
2. i actually like that site. It draws all of the maps people don't really tolerate here (orange fortress, trade convention) to a place where they are tolerated. So,
http://www.teamfortressmaps.com/ = less spam at tf2maps.net

If anyone gets ANY PMs from there douche bag admin on here let us know.

When L4dMaps.net was in its start up time he came to our site and PM'ed most all our members telling to come over to his site and they will be featured etc.

a real winner to say the least.

I'm pretty sure their users are allowed to upload maps made by someone else, the upload form has an "author" field that can differ from the uploader name. FPSBannana works the same way and I think technically tf2maps.net allows that as well, just not many people do it here.

The site seems alright and, like grazr said, has more of a map database focus than a development community like here. They aren't really competition to us and could be a decent alternative to FPSB.

Their terms of service says this

Map / Campaign Submissions (3)

Maps and campaigns can be added by any individual resulting in distribution across the world. For quality assurance to our visitors; listings may be edited, revised or disabled at any time.

* The right of reproduction;
* The right of distribution, and
* The right to make publicly available.

The terms ensures that he/she is entitled to grant the actions of Sec. 3 and that no rights of any third parties will be violated by TFmaps in use of the software.
...which I'm having trouble understanding, must be some crazy Engrish or something, but I think it's trying to say you'll be punished for uploading without permission.

I trolled them, I couldn't help it. :p

Well, try harder.

Just don't be pretending to represent TF2maps.. the last thing the staff needs is to deal with members here aggrevating other sites, and repercussions following back to here.

My advice, don't waste your time. Ignore them. Get on with your life.
