Ok I'm still pretty new here so I thought I'd just ask.
What's the best way of getting your map tested on the TF2Maps.net servers?

The reason I ask is because last night I hopped on the EU server when I saw there was a testing session, played for about 3 and a half hours patiently waiting to get my map tested at the end, but as soon as my map loaded all the regs left and I was left playing with a bunch of kids. By this time it was 4:20AM here in Korea and I was left feeling pretty flat. :cursing:

So yeah, how does one organise a map test here, bearing in mind I'm in a strange timezone so the gamedays are difficult for me to play? :)

We seem to be doing quite a lot of impromptu tests now, which are organised in the chatroom; basically four or five people say "Can we test my map?"; usually there's an admin or vip there who can upload the maps to the appropriate server; then we ask one of the admins to post a steam announcement for these maps.

So usually for these, people are expecting to play four or five maps; sometimes you can get a map tested at the end of that time after 2.5 hours, but by then the players that started are going to start leaving, so to get new players it'd be better to start a new test cycle drumming interest in chat and getting a new announcement.

Also, you can sign up for one of the official test days or you can ask a member or two (like me) to take a quick look at it locally if you are mostly looking for errors or individual opinions.

Also new here and MUST ask:
Chatroom?
Steam Announcements?
... clearly a steam community group exists that I never bothered to think of looking for :bored:
Having just searched, I found 10 of them... which one is the correct one?
and what is this chatroom you speak of? an IRC or something?

It's on the front page, right side, in the "community" window. The group has 1000+ members (sounds pretty cool, even through it's just like 1010 :p). The chat room is simply the steam chat :)

Also, this is a must-read for all new users :)
