I know, most of you won't have the nice detail settings in hammer, like in TF2. Would you like to map with the highest settings possible? It is possible!

Don't believe me?
Check this out:
BEFORE
WIP.jpg

AFTER
WIP2.jpg

(the map is still in progress, ctf_saltcreek)

Just download this file, and unzip it in this folder for optimal 3D view settings in hammer:
C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/*******/sourcesdk/bin/orangebox/bin
where ******* is your steam account name.

Happy Mapping!

I'm still amazed when I see people's hammer screenshots in such low quality... but then I remember this isn't default.

Thanks man, more people should use this. Plus, your FPS in hammer doesn't really matter.

Already knew about this, but thanks for informing others! Means less eyesores when I look at others' Hammer screenshots, I guess. :)

For those who want an in-depth analysis of how this works, see this FPSBanana tutorial. I never knew this, but Hammer's graphical quality parameters are pretty much identical to those used ingame. You can also play around with different values and whatnot to tweak Hammer's output to your liking.

I somehow enabled anti-aliasing in hammer a while a go....
I'll see if I can remember how to do it :)
Through the config or by means of a third party program? If you use Nvidia, you could simply add a profile for the hammer.exe application to the Nvidia Control Panel's graphical options and try that. I use that to give my Goldsrc engine games anti-aliasing.

It's very hard to create with 10 fps :S

It's a non issue though if you have more than 30.

Yeah, that was how you do it.

When I press O in the 3d veiw then I se my fps, it is around 30 but if I look around very very fast it increases up to 200 if I do it for a long time.
A bit strange if you compare to the game when it is decreasing if I look around very fast
So I don´t think you are able to measure the average fps in hammer.

And how would I make it anti-alias when my card isn't there and Nvidia unknown doesn't work. Hmm

the Nvidia's drivers should have application override stuff for anti-aliasing. you can use that, but it anti-aliases the 2D view lines as well and looks like turd :( I went back to aliased

I've tried the Nvidia control panel too. That doesn't seem to work in any game I've tried it on.

Oh well.
