A friend of mine and me are working on a map together and we're going to force users to use custom weapons we pick out. The question is, would you as a player be mad if you couldn't use your own custom weapons you installed instead of ours?

The map we're making won't be following the typical TF2 style, and neither will the weapons. The weapons will follow along the lines of the maps visual style.

No, I don't think you should allow players to use their own custom weapons if that's actually possible. In my opinion, go for the ones you pick out. After all, if anyone can make weapons and use them, that means a lot of people would make miniguns that fire rockets and give infinite uber and so on.

Here's what I'm asking. It is possible to pakrat custom weapon models into your map and it'll force anyone who plays your map to use those custom weapon models, even if they have their own custom weapon models.
The question is, should I force people to use the models I pick out?

Oh, sorry, I totally missed that.

Sounds like that would create one of those errors where players keep those custom models until they restart TF2 and it refreshes the content. I'm pretty sure this is possible, but maybe not entirely smooth.

Meh. The only problem I can see is that some people will hate it and try and others may think they have been installed to their TF2, and try to delete the files in their steam folder.

I wouldn't really mind so long as the models aren't annoying, like if they were taking up quite a bit of the players screen. But peopel could just hide the viewmodels anyway if they didn't like them that much.

No, no, NO and NO. Do not ever embed content into a map that overrides default content. It persists in the client's cache and carries over to any subsequent maps until the client closes the game.

You make it sound a little worse than it is. ;)
If they close the game, it goes back to normal correct?

Yes, but only then. Thats the problem. going to the next map or changing server wont fix it.
