Two suggestions! holy crap!

Hi guys, I have two suggestions to improve our lives here at tf2maps.

The first is for the website, specifically for browsing screenshots of maps. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but if anyone has ever been over to FPSB, when you click on any screenshot in the set thats listed on the map's page, it brings you to another page that has both the screenshot you wanted to view, and a little bar of all the other ones associated with the map, so you can easily switch, instead of having to open all of them at once, usually filling up your tabs (like on here).

The second has to do with the server/website, and how they could be integrated. Now I'm not really sure how to do this, but I'd like to just suggest something. Let's say when you're playing a map on the server, be it gameday or just regularily, and you type in "!map" or "!thread", your steam overlay will open a webpage that searches this website for the map that the server is currently playing. This would involve no input on the admin's part (as in, having to put in the URL for each map that gets uploaded), and would probably improve the feedback mappers get, because most people are too lazy to go search up the map they were playing on. This system would also give us better feedback, because the user can easily switch back and forth from the thread they are posting in, and the map they are commenting on.

Anyways, those are my suggestions, what do you guys think?

The former idea is not very good. Since you're only going to look at the screenshots once, and since you don't have a Tab Limit, there is no reason to change having to Ctrl-Click (or Middle-Mouse-Click) the thumbnails, and then Ctrl-W to close that Tab. Also, you used FPSBanana as an example. *facepalm*

Latter idea is...okay. Personally I find that people having trouble getting feedback should get into their map when it's tested, talk to the other players and get ideas, and then later look at the Source TV and think about things. You could also say throughout the night, say, when a problem occurs, "post it in the thread, please" and maybe people will.

The only reason I used the banana as an example is because it's the only site that I found with this system.

I still think it would improve feedback by a large amount. Keep in mind that it's not just for gameday, let's say some people that hadn't played your map on gameday, but were playing it in the rotation (I guess it's kind of hard to get your map into the rotation, but whatever), you'd still be getting feedback that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Usually mapper's will bump their own thread for gameday, in their own interests. So that there's not much searching to do on behalf of the play testers. Additionally, if someone is't going to give feedback they're not going to give feedback, if they play gameday with the intention of giving feedback later, they will.

It's just a shame that there are not a lot of people who go out of their way to do just that. It's only really the late beta's that get the large amounts of feedback. Probably because there are fewer releases and gameplay is already honed to a point whre people enjoy the map and want to come back to give their opinion.

Sure, I agree with you here, but I still think it would be a good addition to ANY server that hosts maps where the makers would like feedback.

The only maps to be put into rotation are complete or nearly complete maps that people enjoy. Thus Furnace, Haarp, Meridian, etc.

I kind of meant it for other servers, just a general suggestion
