I had a mic that was overpriced and meh, but it worked great. Though unfortunately when i stood up in my chair one time i got caught on the chair and i ripped the cord. It was the FATAL1TY gaming headset from creative for 50 bucks.

So with some money i got for Christmas i am looking for buy a new mic, i have my built in mic that works fine as long as i have headphones on but i would rather have a headset.

So i was just wondering what mics you guys and/or recommend. Also i would prefer it not to be usb, but sound input and output. If wireless (blutooth maybe) that would be cool, but probably more expensive. Looking for something cheaper this time.

Thanks in advance

Thanks flame, that sounds like something i would like especially if it cancels out background noise.

Edit: just checked it out, looks like an amazing headset i really want it. But i was looking for something a little cheaper since i break things easily.

Thats more than I paid for it (my was 50 - 24 for circuit city failing at online order pickup). My first set broke somewhere in the mic boom ~8 months later, but plantronics replaces items that fail within 1 year for free. My second one is over 2 years now. Great set, but I had to toy with my sound devices a little bit since its usb and not two plugs.

This is what I've got. Not too expensive or cheap, fits my ears well.

I've never been happy with over the ear or on the ear phones, due to "ear squish syndrome." These sorta slip over your ears and are comfy.

There's a USB version too.

My sister is a bit more into the higher end gear, though, and she swears by the Steel Series stuff: http://www.steelseries.com/us/products/audio. That's probably about up there with the Fatality sets.

The price is perfect, looks exactly like what i would want. I think i will be getting this thanks.
Edit: I noticed they are behind the head, not a big fan of those, i think i will keep looking.

How is the microphone quality, my old microphone was ok, but in vent it didnt sound to well unless my room was silent.

If you break things easily do NOT get a Carcharias. Its cable is fairly flimsy and will break the sound without too much effort.

And I had a pair of those logitech ones that he recommended. That one really really hurts my ears.

Alright, noted.

I looked up reviews online about those logitech ones, they said great for casual use, but if terrible for hardcore gamers, feels like the rip your ears off.

Logitech headsets also tend to have a large mute/volume button on the cord. Somehow it always gets pressed :-/ Also, not so comfortable (harder, though I used to have an on ear pair).

I switched from logitech to plantronics because the wire broke inside the cord. My current set has a bit thicker wire, and is an over ear with nice soft foam. Very comfortable, even after long periods of wear (used to play wow, so I'm serious about wearing them for a while).

Thanks for the recommendations and no problem i actually did order Stereo Headset: Sennheiser PC-161 yesterday. Thats just what i was looking for.

Should be coming in the next few days, it looks like a great mic, and inexpensive so if i break it i wont be as big of deal to replace knowing my luck.
