Boxy Cubemaps with very visible seams?

I understand what cubemaps are and my question is not "Why iz me getting pink checkerboard."

My question is this: Why do my cubemaps look boxy and have visible seams? I noticed that these seams seem to be in alignment with the skybox, I then created my own sky from scratch (which has a few minor seams but that's not the topic.). Rebuilt cubemaps, and they still have seams. What am I doing wrong?

(Perhaps I should note: I do not have a 3d skybox yet, I'm just using the skybox texture.)

That is a flat surface, I am looking down at the ground on a surface textured with red floor tile. The cube stays like that when you move, like a skybox.
