Hi! I'm new to TF2 mapping, but I have made a portal map before. does anyone have any good mapping tips for a noob(skyboxes, optimization)? should I use a 2D or 3D skybox for my first map? also, I havent found any skybox tutorials yet, where could I find one?

I saw on your front page that there is a game night coming up. is that just everyone on the site getting together to play TF2? new maps, or favorite maps? I have seen the server numbers, but I do not know how to get to that server in-game.

My favorite custom map so far is warpath, but I have not played many custom maps. favorite official map is dustbowl. Is there a general consensus of the really good maps, and if so, which ones are good?

edit: also, any help with vertex manipulation and displacements and cubemaps would be appreciated

Heh, glad to see so much enthusiasm. You will find guides for all of the issues mentioned in our tutorial section http://forums.tf2maps.net/forumdisplay.php?f=12 I also find myself playing Dustbowl more often than not. And of course, if you have any quick question, there's always someone in the Steam chat. Welcome to the group m8 :)

Hi there CornOn;

The Gaming day is for testing of up and coming bmaps the community is working on. To gather some really good feedback. Also once the "working on" map cycle is out we then play some really good completed customs. In order to be able to type that in-game you need to enabled console. Once Concole is enabled type "Connect 84.45.84.166:27015" and enter =)

Welcome to the forums though! Do check out the tutorials section but also the link my my signature "Mapping Resource Thread" as it holds a ton of great info and links.
