Got an email today from my server host. Not too happy.

Turns out FFG is shutting down. Might be for good. A friend of mine on Steam and TF2, is looking into taking over hosting duties from Karl, with help from a community that I'm pretty sure he started or is an admin in on Steam.

If he can't, I don't have a server anymore.

Dear Clients,

I regret to inform you that there has been a tragic incident and we will no longer be able to provide our services to you. This is not something that we have done by choice, this is something we have been forced to do.

Due to the economy and lack of interest in our services, we have been forced to temporarily shut ourselves down until next season when sales will pick up once again.

We understand that some of you have already pre-paid or have invoices that you have paid in full. All of this money that has been sent to us will be refunded to you in the next few days while we sift through all of our accounts.

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and I hope that you can understand where we are coming from. This isn't something any of us wanted to do, nor could see happening in the future.

Your server will continue to run until our services are shut off. At this time we will be unable to recover any of your files. I highly recommend that you make a back up of these files as soon as you possibly can!

Once again, I am personally sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused and I can reassure you that you will be taken care of accordingly.

If you have any additional questions, please address them in a support ticket by logging into our billing panel at

Happy Holidays!

Regards,
Karl Bonitz - Frag Fest Servers CEO
This brings me to a question. FragFestGamers offered good high quality servers, 75 cents a slot.

I need to find a new server host. I need a host that has a good quality server, and a good price per slot.

Any suggestions?

I've already checked out gameservers.com . Unfortunately, I tried to order a server with the location of Toronto, Canada, and it seems servers in that location are backordered and unavailable. And it's $1.24 a slot.

So uh, can anyone suggest a new server host?

I've checked out the following:

GameServers ($1.35 CDN/slot? No thanks)
LowPing (No. Just no. Lying about having 100tick rate servers for TF2? TF2 engine is hardcoded at 66 tick)

http://www.theplanet.com/ has some very good servers.

Ugh, no thanks. I need something Team Fortress 2-specific.

Not just "Oh pay like 400 bucks for this server!"

And technically, buying a "dedicated server" like that, means I'm essentially looking to run my own server hosting company, which is not the case.

I need another server hosting company to purchase a TF2 server from.
