So, i like this forum because here are many skilled mappers who produce the content which spreads in the whole tf2 universum.

But, lately i often wanted to find new maps which i could include into our mapcycles.

Sadly the browsing system is a bit simplistic. I didn't find a way to filter the maplist by
- final state
- sort by views
- some sort of rating
- gametype (for example someone is only looking for arena/koth maps, etc.)

or is there some sort of featuring-thread? that would help out too. if not, it might actually be a good idea? :p

sorry for my ignorance, but i am a new reader to this forum and the large amount of maps is like a big haystack full of glittering needles ;D

//edit:

huh, i found the exactly same suggestion oO
http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=9853

so, you might actually close this thread :p

to add something useful:
please please mappers, do all serveradmins a favour and only upload your RC/final maps as zip, tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2, 7z and NOT as rar!
I usually skip every .rar map because it would take 20+ mins to download the map, re-pack it and upload it on the server.
otherwise it can be directly loaded to the machine and unpacked via shell.

there really isn't a difference between all those file types, size wise. Yes it takes us server admins an extra step to bzip them and then upload them, but i'm sure you're use to that if you are constantly looking up maps.

i'm new to the TF2 community, so i am not used to it :p
its rather annoying for me, so as i said i usually skip maps that are only available as rar files.
for the mapper it is no big deal to use zip/7z or similar compression tools instead of winrar. and 7zip is size wise even better than rar!

also, i am sure that there are more serveradmins with this opinion, but they don't open threads to suggest it to the mappers ;D

Heh, i'm a server admin and a mapper, i really don't' have a problem, go find 7zip, I'm sure you already have it and compress them yourself, doesn't take but maybe 10 seconds max to decompress and compress them yourself.
