I'm bored out of my skull, I've got 1 last final exam today, then I'm going home until Jan. 13th for Christmas break.

So I thought to myself; "Hmm...wish I could tell which textures/models were TF2 without having to try and guess"

My question is, if I was to start working on a big list of Team Fortress 2-specific Textures and/or Models, would you, the community, like and/or use it?

The reason behind this endeavour is because me as a beginner mapper, would love a list of TF2 specific textures and/or models to keep the TF2-look and feel in my map, and to keep me from accidentally using a Portal/HL2 texture/model.

Also, the reason why I'd list models would be because I'd be listing them by their model name, with a brief description of what it is. This would be useful because you could simply CTRL+F and punch in, for example, "dispenser" and search the model list for every model of a dispenser, then copy+paste the model name into the World Model section of the Entity properties, instead of going through every bloody list of models.

So yeah, would you guys, the community, be interested in this? I haven't started yet, and if I were you, I wouldn't expect some miraculous finishing of the list(s) in like 2 days. This could take awhile.

No I mean the built in textures.

I tried googling "list of TF2 textures" and found nothing.

Hence why I wanna attempt this.

I'll check out the link you posted once I get back from my final exam.

EDIT: Recognized the link. That's ABS's resource pack. What I want to do is go through the texture/model browser, find every texture/model from TF2, write down their filenames. I could even sort it by what it's for, like Walls, Ceilings, etc.

This way, people who want an authentic TF2 style map can see the list and go "Oh hey, this texture I have on my map isn't from Team Fortress 2. Let's see if there's a TF2 texture I can switch it out with!"

All you have to do is use the keyword "TF" in the texture browser and it will show the ones used in TF2. The same goes with the built in model browser.

I've tried the whole TF thing.

When the texture thing finishes filtering, I can easily notice a few TF textures missing from the list.

Again, I believe having a list like this to the side would be of great value for people who don't want to spend time filtering every texture via "TF"

Yeah, forget this.

I checked out the whole "TF" keyword thing. Too many textures to list.

Plus, the new textures and overlays of the crafting icons and such aren't even listed when you use TF as a keyword.

And as for the models, same thing, I'm too lazy to go through and list them all.

So yeah, I agree now that this is just a dumb idea.
