I just reformatted my laptop, reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium, and before I had reformatted, I had TF2, Counter Strike: Source, Source SDK, Half Life 2 (Ep 1, 2, and Lost Coast) and Portal.

I finished reformatting last night, and today I started reinstalling stuff I need. Stuff like MSN, WinRAR, Microsoft Security Essentials, Steam, etc.

My laptop specs are as follows:

Code:
Windows Vista Home Premium
HP G60 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-60 1.90GHz
Memory (RAM): 3.00GB
System: 32-bit
I did have Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 installed before I reformatted, I haven't reinstalled it yet.

I installed TF2 again, and halfway through installing, Windows Vista's Windows Update automatically restarted my laptop to finish installing updates. So I loaded TF2 and went ingame to change my settings. I changed them to the following:

Code:
[u][b]Audio[/b][/u]
Speaker Config: 2 Speakers
Sound Quality: Low

[u][b]Video[/b][/u]
Resolution: 1280 x 720 (My laptop screen has a max of 1366 x 768, but I use 1360 x 768)
Aspect Ration: Widescreen 16:9
Display Mode: Run in a window
Model Detail: Low
Texture Detail: Low
Shader Detail: Low
Water Detail: Simple reflections
Shadow Detail: Low
Color Correction: Disabled
Antialiasing Mode: None
Filtering Mode: Bilinear
Wait for vertical sync: Disabled
Motion Blur: Disabled
Field of View: 90.00
Multicore Rendering: Disabled
High Dynamic Range: None

Hardware DirectX level: DirectX v9.0+
Software DirectX level: DirectX v9.0

Those were the settings I used before I reformatted my laptop.

After reformatting, I changed them back to those settings, I connected to my server, hosted at FragFestGamers.com, and I got a "Connection problem; Auto disconnecting in <##> seconds". I reconnected 3 times and kept getting disconnected.

So I checked my console. (NOTE: Yes, I did right click TF2, and verify the cache integrity. Everything checked out, and no new files were downloaded) This is what I found:

What is wrong? What should I do? Should I delete TF2 and reinstall it fully without having my laptop restart? I've tried verifying the integrity of the cache, as I saw was suggested on several forums after I googled my problem. Unfortunately, everything is ok with the files, so that can't be the problem.

There seems to be stuff in your configs that doesnt exist. Try to rename/delete your whole config folder, maybe it works then.

I just went ahead and uninstalled TF2 (Delete Local Content).

I've got 1 important Windows Update waiting to be installed, so I'm gonna install it, let my laptop do it's thing, and then reinstall TF2 without restarting my laptop and see if that fixes it.

I'll post back later once it's done redownloading and let you know if I'm still experiencing problems.

(Yes, I know, I'm taking the cheap, yet long way of trying to fix the problem. I got plenty of time on my hands though)

Pardon my Captain Obvious approach, but this seems like something more mundane than cfgs.

Wild guess but, is your firewall blocking TF2? You might have to manually add it to exceptions.

Those things seem like Steam cloud simply trying to sync settings that don't exist in that game.

...Or I'm totally off here. Goodluck.

All that stuff just shows in the console no matter what you do.

The issue isn't configuration.

I haven't restarted yet, I'm just downloading Windows Vista Service Pack 2, and I'm gonna install it, then I'm gonna fully reinstall TF2 with no interruptions.

As for my Windows Firewall, it popped up when I first started up TF2 after I reformatted, so I clicked Unblock.

I always click unblock whenever it pops up when I load a game.

That's not the case.

So give me like, 2 hours, maybe, possibly more (my college residency connection only hits a max of 115kb/s. If I was at home, I'd be getting 300kb/s), to install TF2 again, then I'll get back to you.

Ok, so it took longer than I expected.

But I reinstalled TF2, got the same big ConVar error message as before.

Wait, the ConVar stuff will always show up? No way to fix it?

there's nothing to fix, it's there for everyone and it's not a problem. you get disconnected eventually from all servers? if so it's more than likely something to do with your connection, nothing to do with tf2

No no no, I get disconnected from my server.

Me and the owner of FragFestGamers, Karl, are trying to pinpoint the problem.

I have Metamod - Source Mod, with Advertisements 0.5.5, Fast Respawn and Max Class plugins.

I narrowed it down to changing classes/dying

Whenever I respawn in the base, I don't die, and therefore, I don't get that "Auto disconnect in ## seconds".

Whenever I respawn out in the main areas of the map, the minute the "<Player> has bid farewell" message pops up, I get disconnected from my server.

It's not a connection problem, because I've got Tf2 in the list of exceptions for Windows Firewall, and my connection is good. I've usually got between 20-30 ping at any given time.

So i think I pinpointed the issue completely.

It was my map.

I created it in Source SDK

I reformatted my laptop 2 nights ago, and since then, I started having problems on my map.

So I'm ditching it.
