After all of the contest stuff, getting back to a normal routine feels pretty good. We haven't forgotten about our recent one though. Just a small delay w/ one of the judges. We will have results by week's end at the latest. And for those of you who don't know, Mr. Dario Casali is one of the celebrity judges, so it's gonna be worth the wait ;) You will note that our server rotation has been restored, and Gamedays will resume this week, albeit w/ a few tweaks.

The biggest change is in the way we're handling submissions. Starting next week, we're going to have threads for 2 or 3 weeks worth of Gamedays. Authors will be limited to some number of entries in that time frame. This should remove the pressure that comes from having each thread open mere days before. It will also lets us shorten the total Gameday time, so authors won't have to worry about testers getting burnout before reaching the end of the session

Should you be looking for a project, we have a new mini-contest up and running; CP mini-contest Just a casual event, but I love these things cuz they are a great opportunity for new mappers to make a serious effort, and they allow the more experienced members to show off :p I want to give a quick shout-out to all of the awesome custom servers that keep popping up; http://forums.tf2maps.net/forumdisplay.php?f=27 The admins are making a serious effort to spread the word about custom TF2 goodness, so make sure to leave your feedback.

Lastly, it's not often that I get to brag (see my sig), so I was pleasantly surprised when I got asked to do an interview for Community Fortress. For those of you who don't know, they're a premiere group in the competitive scene. It includes a small spoiler about our next big contest as well :) Not quite an indepth as the piece I did for The Modcast Episode 2, but still a good look at the state of custom TF2. Check it out here; http://communityfortress.com/tf2/news/interview-with-immortal-d-of-tf2mapsnet.php

Has anyone in the Chicago area gotten any Winter yet? I have my snowboard all shined and ready, but have thus far been sorely disappointed.

Awesome, Nice interview. I was not expecting the comment about teaming with Novint, I've been following their competitions already, can't wait to see what this is about. :O

Nice interview, that spoiler got me all excited, along with the gameday changes is something that has been needed to for awhile. Hopefully this will make gamedays much more smooth.

Woah, you snowboard? Your internet score just got doubled!

By the way is there a list of all the judges for the contest? I never actually figured out who was doing it beyond Boojum and Dario.

nah, I come from comp TF2 and all we really do is complain about how all we do is 5cp but then we dont like turbine, hate gpit and dbowl and have a general dislike for most custom maps (probly cause a lot of them... suck for comp. Not gonna lie, SUCK FOR COMP). I dont agree with a lot of that, I liked a few of the maps I played for TWL preseason and I am always up for a good Yukon or (gasp!) Well.

I have a private 16 slot 1000fps server I pay pretty little for if you guys want to use it for 6v6 style. just give me the map location and ill upload it and you guys can try 6v6 for yourselves.

I wouldnt mind giving people like Youme, Nineaxis or FoX rcon to it.

Its in chicago. only problem is the fast dl is not fast at all. So I'd need to make sure everyone downloaded beforehand.

Gameday question: ABS says submissions are final. If we feel that after submission a map isn't ready for testing and want to take it out, can we do that?

Chicago has plenty of winter in store.. it's just waiting for the least opportune time to drop it on us. Gotta love this city.

I felt like the odd man out in our comp team. Everyone hated playing this map except me. :,( I think it had something to do with the last point... I'll ask again (if they don't chew me out for mentioning it) and let you know about their issues with it.

Either way though, new gameday changes are great. :D
