This is an old version. Please see the latest version here. Sorry for any confusion.
The workings of this map are relatively simple. Each team is put into an opposite but symmetrical half of arena_chamber. These teams will then each choose one teammate to fight against an opposing team’s member in the arena. The chosen player will drop down into the ‘preparation area’ (a small pit adjacent to the arena) and a sliding door above will seal them in. Once there is one person in each preparation area, the doors in front of them will open, allowing the chosen players into the arena to fight. When the fighting has concluded and only one player remains, the doors to the preparation area will open and a lift will allow the winner to return to their teammates. The cycle then starts again from the beginning, until only one person remains.
A team has only 20 seconds to send someone into the preparation area after the opposing team has chosen their player. Once the 20 seconds expire, the team with a member in the preparation area will begin to capture a point. When it is fully captured, they win the game.
Only 1 person is allowed in the preparation area.
The winner of a fight must return to their teammates for the arena to reset (you can fight again though).
The Sandman is not allowed, but this restriction may be lifted pending further tests and community opinion.
Feedback is greatly appreciated. Please point out any bugs or exploits that may have slipped through.
Arena_chamber_a2 is a melee only map designed for 1 versus 1 melee duels. Unlike many other melee only maps, I have tried to create an environment that is as ‘regulated’ as possible. By this, I mean a map that doesn’t allow for a free-for-all combat style. In turn, I hope this map encourages teams to strategize and enjoy a more competitive style of play.
