cp_enigma
A linear capture point map (5cp).

Theme: Japanese

Unknown story.

No download yet, it's still in development.

It's going to be a relatively flat map, but with many oppertunities and shortcuts for those who prefer to travel by air.
Not much to say yet, that's why I included some screenshots. Ignore the missing cubemaps, thank you.

(currently you could argue that the devtheme is slightly granary-ish, but don't take that as a hint or anything... I seriously haven't decided what theme to pick)

---- NOTICE ----
This map is moving at a very slow pace, don't expect many updates.

You got cubemaps in there? I assume you don't because the Cap's have those ugly black and purple squares.

I love the first screenie, It looks like Fuel Stack from MPH.

Oh, and one more thing. I make a lot of major changes when I'm still in pre-alpha... I expect these screenshots to be outdated in just a few days! :)

Exist: Thanks, and no I don't have any cubemaps yet... I said so in the first post.

That chunk blasted out of the building is awesome.

I'm getting a weird mirror's edge vibe from this.... I wonder why that is.

I am loving that center point, that just looks gorgeous. Can't wait for a download.

Already looks better than the majority of Alpha maps out there.

Probably because of the dev textures.

@Penguin: Yeah, it looks like he's been playing too much L4D. >:3

O_O

I just about came when I saw "Ravidge" and "CP" on the maps forum. It's about bloody time! And I'm SO very very excited! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

So far the layout looks far above average and pretty exciting, some lovely details already and some very unique geometry, all the CPs especially. I'm very much looking forward to more info, Ravidge.

There do look to be a few relatively long sightlines you could clear up with a prop pile or two ala granary's final point.

Yeah, this is true. Though I have bigger changes in mind than some tiny cover.

Basically I built the points individually and then I connect them with various buildings and such. Though on a closer inspection I found the gameflow a tiny bit wierd (esp around cp2).
Odd sightlines are bound to appear when building like this, but don't worry, I eventually find them!

And I've been thinking of various themes to use, some suggestions I've heard so far include: Viaduct, Hawaii and Japan. I think the only things I would flat out refuse to do are themes I've done before (silvertrail, system, panic).
If you have a cool idea be sure to post it, I will definately consider it :)

Thanks for all the warm comments so far!

Looking great so far though this picture looks rather erratic and strange to me. There are so many stairs and balconies in such a small amount of space that I can't help but think it will turn out being a clusterf***. :p

I think with the tall-ish buildings. It could prove quite a nice silhouette on a yellow-eh sunset/sunrise sky. I'd also like to think it would look nice in Pipeline's theme.

Well, thinking along the lines of something new and creative, what about a snowy runoff/slushy theme? Ice melting and flowing into rivers... dirty snow... maybe a light Spring rain.

Example:

Once I get back to my dorm I can also post some of my photographs from Red Dog Mine in the winter if you're interested.
