Instead of carving

I am reading all these threads that talk about how bad it is to carve. First, why is this? Second, what is another way to get around carving, to make windows, or doors or something?

Ouch. So, there is no other way to cut a hole in a wall without carving?
Or is this the only option?

Well, you can make windows with carving, it's a bad habit, and Boojum's ways will become faster in the long run but at least if you're carving very simple, on grid rectangles out, you'd be OK.

Clipping will become second nature after a while. ;)

Clipping is useful in other ways as well, I'd advise you to use it for all the cutting of your brushes.

I use vertex edit rather than clip, maybe that's just me.

In most cases it's just quicker to clip (unless you're doing something like rotating a beam, although I use clipping there too, with manual rotation :O)

I use clipping for almost everything, except for roofs (or rooves!) and sometimes little things where clipping is just frustrating.

Clip for cutting, vertex for adjusting.
