Half-Life imo is the greatest shooter released to this date, and is far superior game to Half-Life 2 (which was still a great game). I as well have been following this mod from the beginning and I still never forget to check up on it from month to month. It is honestly my most anticipated game, let alone mod, of the few years, and judging by the blogs and screens they've released it is one of the most thoroughly designed mods, possibly games, to date.

Gonna be AWESOME.

An update on Black Mesa...
Sadly it will not be coming out this year.
See this thread for more information.

Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn't quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We'll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it's coming!

Near future = a couple more years. I've waited through four of their six, I can wait a few more without too much heartbreak.

In all truth though, I willingly wait even longer if Valve decided to pick it up and release it like they've done with a'many custom maps for TF2.

I dont think it will take much more than a year from now, what we saw in the trailer looked final already. I think they are mainly doing bug fixes and stuff.

As usual, BMS has not only missed their deadline, but done it at the last minute. Good work!

What the hell is that supposed to mean? The first deadline they ever set themselves was "2009"

Why so cynical about it? Its going to be a better game because of it and not a rush job.

Oh and remember these guys are doing it 100% free-time, they're not getting paid at all by anyone, for anything.

This.

Also:
OMG! Haven't they beaten Black Mesa and the Half Life game world to death at this point? It's like flogging a dead horse. Can't they do something different and original?

I'm sorry, but why are you upset? This is mod, and like youme said, it's being done completely on their own free time and for no other satisfaction but for making something that they hope people will enjoy. Much like what the entirety of this community does with TF2...

I'm more disappointed, cynicism is just part of my personality.

I just hope they don't do something stupid like try to add to the story. Or assume which scientist/guard is which prominent side character in HL2. Personally, I think they should ask valve to give them information on who to type as which character.

Maybe they should just cover all the security guards/scientists' faces, even. The problem is, that'd just be plain wierd.

I am sure they wont change anything to the original, the only thing they said would be changed are the puzzles, to make it a bit harder. And valve wouldnt tell anything anyway.
