Hi guys i am in need of some love and care lol. No seriously, my map that i am making for TF2 which is for my Univeristy project has reached a point where it will not compile by even making the littlest change to my map. I'll alaborate.

Basically my map kept giving me this compile error :

The command failed. Windows reported the error:

So after i resorted back to my last working map which compiles like this:

Again that map does run but is not optimised well.

But get this. If i change any little thing in the working map, and then run it, it doesnt work. Even if i change the file name and save it as something else but nothing has been changed to the map, it fails to compile.

I don't know if any of you guys could help me on this situation but i need to get it sorted PRONTO! any help would be much apprieciated.

Thanks guys.

looks like there is a space in the name...

no spaces allowed, or it wont compile

l3eeron, I think that's the forum's posting software turning the _ into a space. You can see in the text there are several places with random spaces. Probably not the problem.

This is probably the culprit. Did you at all move the vmf before compiling? Anywhere at all?

going with the other two.

lastworkingmapsave_TF2_sta ffs2.bsp"
lastworkingmapsave_TF2_staffs2.bsp"

Did you check that out yet Manhunt, was that the problem?

I was having a similar problem a few weeks back with my map, I think, it's a little hard to tell and the other guys may be right with the space in the name. However, it looks like the bsp isn't getting compiled which causes all the error messages in vis and rad.

"Error opening c:\documents and settings\dale_m\desktop\lastworkingmapsave_TF2_sta ffs222.bsp"

If it turns out that the space isn't the issue check into problems with the actual map. In my case, I had some illegal geometry in a displacement, faces overlapping themselves. No guarantee's that's it but worth checking just in case.
