Payload Cart Going Under Water

I had the idea of making a small section of my payload track go underwater, so the players must rely on the cart to survive through that section. I wonder if this will actually be any fun, and also what other measures I need to take to make that area of the map balanced so the defending team doesn't have a gigantic advantage. (I don't want to make the entire area of the map and then find out it doesn't work well, I just want a second opinion before I do so).

I definatly would say if you did this, don't make a huge chunk of water, or don't make it extremely deep, as people will only be able to push for a few seconds before the cart healing is overwhelmed by attack and water.

The water would also have to be very clear, so you can see any sentries under there without having to waste a few lives figuring out where they are.

The main thing really though would to be to make a general layout, then playtest it. If it doesn't work out, you can alter it according to feedback, or remove it compeltly as it shouldn't be an area that had weeks of work spent on it.

EDIT: This whole area would render pyros completly useless, so definatly don't make it underwater for too long. I know people would love to have a pyro free zone, but I quite enjoy playing pyro, and a map where a major area would render me uselss would force me to another class. (probably for the best :p )

Thanks for the fast reply! I think I'll make it shallow enough so that you don't have to rely on the cart for life, in that you can return to the surface if it gets too much. Sentries pose a problem, I'll have to put some ledges that are out of the sentry's range where soldiers can fire at the sentries from.

You could also put a func_nobuild that occupies the water area. That way nothing can be built there. Just tell people that the water makes the sentries break down. :p

I don't use the flamethrower when pyro. Shotgun is suprisingly useful and axing people is hilarious, works quite well actually.

The other major problem is that the drowning alert system wouldn't go away. It's very distracting when your screen is flashing, you're choking and blood is coming out of nowhere for no adequately explained reason.
