Control

CTF_Control is an inteligence map with a control point element. each teams inteligence is held under lock and key. when a team owns the center control point the enemys intel doors open and it can be capped. but be warned! if the enemy takes the point their intel will be covered again and YOURS will be exposed. even worse an impenetrable steel door will descend over your capture zone preventing you from capping the enemy intel even if youre holding it!

ive been testing this map privately on my communitys server and it has recieved very positive comments thus far so i decided its time i made it available to other groups. all comments are welcome and appreciated of course however there are two things i would like you to consider:

1. a better name. ctf_control is boring. i wanted ctf_lockdown but its already taken.

2. a clever way to dispose of players who become trapped in the intel cap room. a deathtrap if you will.

there are also a few visual bugs that i am aware of and will be fixing with the release of A5. enjoy!

EDIT: ive discovered that the cap indicator lights dont work quite right after the first round. will fix in A5.

thanks. having the cap zone close off makes for some really intense and often funny moments.

Sweet game mode idea. Looks pretty nice, good silhouettes on the first screenshot.

As for ways to kill people that get trapped... set them on fire?

Looks nice and I like the game mode idea, but that CP looks a bit too open. A bit of cover or a roof over certain areas would be nice, but you never know it might work out well like that, just see how a playtest goes.

I dunno, sound to me like you're encouraging people to camp the middle (cap). And completely destroy any chance for a quick backcap on too aggressive teams.

But I will stay optimistic until I try it, for all I know you might have managed to make it work :)

the HUD has intel compasses as well as a CP capture box. and the cp isnt as open as you might think actually. anyway if nobody cares to try it for themselves look for it next gameday maybe. if i can get it in.

Ooh, another map like ctf_powerhouse :D (idea's been done before):
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/37207

I really loved playing on that map back in the day...too bad not many people care for it anymore :(. The addition of a cap point added a whole new element to game play. Hopefully this one can hold up. Word of advice: don't sacrifice the CTF hud unless a custom hud also has flag counters. I also remember another map (can't remember the name) try to emulate this game mode, but it didn't work out so well because nobody knew how many more times the flags needed to be capped to win.

Some things mentioned during gameday:
You need more signs indicating where to bring the intel.
You need more optimization. People's FPS's were dropping like crazy and a few people crashed.
Some of your shadows are very dark, you may have a leak.
