King of the Hill map; should support 16 - 24 players. Thought I'd try combining Egypt and Swamp themes for a Maya theme. Initial layout complete. Changes pending testing. Working on custom textures and models.

The theme looks great from the picturs only! Me and my friend are making a map based somewhere in the south american jungle, maybe we could cooperate on some custom textures? Send me a PM if you're interested, and good luck with Maya. I'll be sure to playtest it as soon as I get time.

I think it's looking nice so far, maybe you have used the same brick texture too much? - I'm not sure I'll have to see once it's detailed a bit more.

Cheers. Yeah the textures are very basic at the moment, but hopefully the variation in lighting breaks up the monotony. Once game play has been solidified I'll put more attention into trims and frescoes.

In addition to the swamp theme, the [ame="http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=7950"]jungle pack[/ame] would fit in very well. Looks good so far.

Looks awesome at the moment, I like the use of basic aspects of the Swamp pack mixed with Egyptian styled textures/props. It looks nice, hope this map goes well for you!

Seriously though, good call mixing in the swamp theme. This may actually prevent me from going through with my side/rage project (er, whoops - it's a secret. Tell no one).

I heartily advise you go through with this and make those custom Mayan art/lettering textures - this is looking awesome already and could add some color that Egypt desperately needs.

The only issue is that it comes down to the egypt walls.

Maybe you should alter them and make them look grimier.

Some good ideas. Yes I think adding a bunch of grime to the walls will really work wonders. I'm starting to get a list together of custom content to make, as well as expanding a number of areas around the map to make it playable with more players.

Had a very quick go at some grungy walls, still need to be refined. Still, it's added much more sense of `jungle' to it.

Expanded the map quite a bit, adding a number of alternate routes and some spy-friendly darker areas. Expanded the main combat areas and added partial cover to a number of places.

I experimented a little with the jungle theme pack (which is excellent), but I found the foliage to be very bright green and it clashes quite a bit with the darker tones of the swamp theme. You can see an example of it in the first screen shot on the fern in the top left of the image. Don't know what I'll do regarding this issue, yet.

Reminds me of old days, playing CS. It looks similar to ''de_aztec''
But the stile is really nice tough. :)

Thanks all! I'll release all custom content for the map for public use once the map is finalised and released.

It reminds me a lot of de_aztec as well, actually. I think I subconsciously have drawn a fair few ideas from it.

New version up, alpha 4. After the game day test I moved the spawn rooms slightly back and added a second exit to avoid demo's sticky jumping and camping spawn. LOTS more visual stuff added including a lot of skybox stuff and a "muck" texture (which could be useful for swamp maps, too).

Still working on custom statue models and other maya-theme textures. I HOPE I've pakratted all the model skin textures properly this time...
