This doesnt say how to give non unlockable weapons attributes tho.
But that is an unlockable weapon, it just uses the shotgun graphics.

for the offensive engie, to save him building dispensers everywhere and to encourage finishing of your lvl 1 sentries targets. pretty much to encourage offenive engineering.

At the moment the combat engy is essentially a slow scout that can't double jump. The last thing we need is a buff of any kind for the shotgun. your idea could work, though I think it could have a different positive effect. And portable sentries, while most believe is a great idea, could never work. What people would want is one that builds faster, and the P.D.Q. does that fine.
Looks like he's trying to make the engineer more useful. A'la jarate/Natascha style.
I was gonna suggest a double barrel shotgun, but then it'd just be considered a version of FaN.
A gun that leaches ammo off enemies to increase your carried metal counter like a version of the medigun would be cool. But i guess not much use if you're only using a lvl1 sentry.

I like the ammo-leaching idea, any way that the engineer can generate metal in combat will help out an offensive engineer.
