Collision Model (modelling not mapping)

Long story short, I got my prop modeled and it's animations are working beautifully, but the collision model is sideways and no matter how I alter the collision models it's rotation in either Maya or XSI it doesn't change the orientation of the collision model. It's getting frustrating! I've been doing research to find the reason as to why it isn't working but I can't find anything on the problem. So does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

you checked where the gizmo/pivot/centerpoint is placed ? and did you move the model into place in the editor axis ?
i remember i had this also some models ago and for me it was that the model was moved to the right instead centered on the axis.

Sorry for the late responces.

@acumen: Im 95% certain its not the pivots since I rely on those to be as accurate as possible already so I don't think it's that.

@psy: No im not using it, so ill give it a try and see what happens.

I hate collision models... can never get them right on the first try. I think my problems had to do with... not freezing it or merging it correctly. If all else fails, just try making the collision model again. That often seems to work for me.

And as noted by Psy:

TIP: Recompiled models with $staticprop are always rotated -270 degrees around the Z axis. To fix this add the property '$origin 0 0 0 270' within the QC.

But you weren't using it... so... yeah.

Well I tried the $staticprop in my qc just to see if Psy meant that I needed it, and now it's working thankfully. Thanks guys!
