Would this, theoretically, be possible?

I dont know if it has been discussed here already (used search too), but have a new ctf_ modded game type where it incorporates both ctf_ and koth_ strategies.

The idea that im thinking of would be a single flag would be inactive for a set period of time after round start (say 60 seconds for example) and once that initial time has elapsed, the flag would raise up out of a compartment central to the map / equal distance from both teams, which requires both teams to battle it out to retrieve it, survive the trip back to the capture area before capping the flag.

Theres the combination of ctf_ and koth_ which seems the most obvious, but i also thought there could be a combination of ctf_, koth_ and tc_ into this new gametype.

With the addition of the tc_ aspect, maps would be played the same as described above, but with each win (say 2 captures = round win for example), the map would be designed, like hydro, to have alternate areas that open up for the new round, whilst others close.

The flag would obviously have to be set to skin2 (grey coloured briefcase) since there is no overal owner to the flag.

Just a theory i had, could make for intertesting discussion and hopefully it is possible (since i havent wrapped my head around it fully).

Mangy did flag-base koth in koth_aurora, though I don't see what you are saying has anything to do with koth... it sounds like normal single-flag CTF.

Then Jamini is doing [ame=http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=9283]that community TC-koth[/ame] map, so I suppose the technical capability for tc-kotf would be there...

The koth_ part came from the single flag (like a single cp_ from koth).

Another idea sprung to mind just now....could there be a way of having the flag uncaptureable, but instead, one team just has to be in possesstion of it for a set amount of time? Which would relate back to koth_ (and the use of its timers). So when a team has had a combined possesion time of say 3 minutes, for example, they win and round ends.

So, that turely would be like kotf_ (king of the flag), but would require the flag being implemented with the koth_ system with the absense of a control point.

time based kotf sounds a lot better to me but I have some concerns about the idea... if someone pick up the flag, he most likely will fall back to the spawn area and try to keep it safe. problem with that is, the flag will be attracting a lot of enemies to the spawn. I don't know, I haven't tryed it nor did anyone else, but... spawn camping might become a big issue.

what I would suggest is a single flag that needs to be brought to the intel room to activate the timer. that way you avoid spawn camping. and get a better gamemode (in my opinion)
