You hit the key to the left of the number 1 below the Fkeys.

I believe his point was that on keyboards for some other languages the tilde is not to the left of the 1, but the key to the left of the 1 is still the console key.

For me ` is my console key. ~ is next to enter.

It should be next to 1. What's your keyboard's origin?

Every keyboard I own has ` and ~ on the same key... Is that the point being made here?

(A note for those who don't realize it, if there are any: ` (paired with ~) and ' (standard apostrophe) are two different keys.)

Depends on the keyboard.

See, in our keyboard we don't have a ` key individually. Left of 1 is \ or |, and our `is a "shift key", therefore the actual ` key does not exist... In other words, we have console assigned to a key that doesn't exist in our keyboard.

Valve's biggest overlook so far.

I can hardly contain my vital organs (for my sides have split with laughter)

but back to reality, pointless post much?

Its not exactly an oversight on their part. more of a wtf on the regional keyboard manufacturers. Why do UK keyboards have to differ from american ones? our language is almost identical bar a few bastardisations made here or there.

I can understand it for keyboards in countries where they have extra characters and accents, why should a korrean keyboard have a ` key?

(My UK keyboard has ` ¬ and ¦ on the key next to 1 whilst ~ is the shift character for my # key, by my carriage return key)

And just to rub it in boojum's face ¬_¬

Because it's a regional thing, not "national". That said, it IS a valve oversight considering keyboards have been like this since before TF2... Or even before Valve if I remember correctly.

That said, TF2 is, oddly enough, the only valve game I'm aware off that lets you rebind the console key... Do that.
