Found it. It took a while, but this here is his "modding" blog.

Looks like he is also working on a mod, but the letters in his messages to Gabe seem to refer to the untitled L4D campaign.

Also, if you read the blog, it looks like Gabe and Erik are paying for their own flight, meaning that all the funds will be going to Child's Play.

Awesome. Way to go kid.
