Chat no longer appearing

My in-game chat doesn't appear any more. No text for when people type things, call for medic, announce a spy, find an item, nothing. I haven't changed anything as far as I know. I don't know anything about this problem, but all I can guess is that it might have something to do with turning off/on the HUD/viewmodel for screenshots. I've had horrible glitchiness from turning those back on after taking screens in the past (only rarely though).

Text from the chatbox still shows up in the console when I look at it, so I know it's receiving, just not displaying.

Any idea as to how to get it back? A console command I might need to put in that I didn't realize I'd adjusted, perhaps?
