Just when scientists thought they'd got the measure of dinosaurs, along comes a new find that has got them scratching their heads in disbelief.

A miniature version of tyrannosaurus rex has been unearthed in China which looks every bit like the king of the dinosaurs ... but is 100 times lighter.

The dinosaur, named raptorex kriegsteini, lived 125million years ago – 65million years before the larger carnivore evolved.

Not sure how they know exactly that it lived before the T-rex, but if they didn't then it could've just been a baby T-rex :p

radio carbon dating, also you can tell an animal's approximate age by features in the bones (like in humans, if the sutures in the skull are fused or not determines if it was adult/child)

radio carbon dating can't be used that far back its a measure of thousands of years, not millions. Besides, there isnt any carbon in a fossil anyhow, it's all calcium.
